When Instant Brands first released the Instant Pot multi-cooker, there were just a couple of different models. Since then, many new models have been introduced. Some of them have stuck around and others have been discontinued.

Inner Pot Dimensions
Below you’ll find the Instant Pot diameter and height of each inner pot. All models with inner pots that don’t have handles have the same dimensions for each size. These inner pots can be used interchangeably (Lux, Duo, Viva, Ultra, Gourmet, Nova, Duo Plus, Duo Crisp).
All models with inner pots that have silicone handles also have the same dimensions per size. These inner pots can be used interchangeably (e.g. Pro, Pro Plus, Duo Evo Plus, Pro Crisp).
Please note that the inner pot is slightly tapered. Therefore, the inner diameter at the base will be narrower than the inner diameter at the lip. The measurements below are for the widest part.

The larger sizes of Instant Pot can be quite bulky. I have so many Instant Pots that they are in a closet in my basement but I keep the one I’m currently using on my kitchen counter. Here are the approximate storage requirements for each size of Instant Pot:

Best Instant Pot Accessories for Each Size
There are many accessories you can buy for your Instant Pot. The size of the accessory varies based on the size of the inner pot. In general, if you’re using an accessory in the inner pot, make sure there’s about ½ inch of space between the wall of the accessory and the wall of the inner pot.
Asian markets are a great place to pick up steam racks and other accessories for the Instant Pot.

FAQs
This 7 inch springform cake pan fits the 6 quart. It’s a bit of a tight fit but since there’s plenty of room for airflow, it works fine. You can use a silicone sling or aluminum foil sling to help lift up the pan.
This 7.5 inch springform cake pan fits the 8 quart perfectly.
A 7-inch cake pan can be used in a 6 quart and 8 quart Instant Pot inner pot.
The 6 quart inner pot is slightly tapered. At the widest part, closest to the lip, the diameter is 8 ⅝ inches (21.8 cm). At the narrowest part, closest to the base, the diameter is 7 ¾ inches (19.6 cm).

7/14/23 I want to make a minimum of one quart of yogurt at a time (prefer to make 2). So far have only used a 4-cup pyrex measuring cup with plastic stretched over the top. A ball one quart jar is too tall. I prefer glass or ceramic. It won’t be hotter than 110 F so temperature tolerance doesn’t matter. Any ideas? It sounds so simple but so far, daunting!

Tami, I haven’t done it myself but I do know that people use the 3 quart inner pot in the 6 quart for PIP. You can buy the inner pot separately I believe. Let me know what you find out!

Great information but I’m wondering what the inside clearance (not just the internal pot height) is for the 8 or 10 quart instant pots. Specifically I’d like to place a 500ml media bottle inside to sterilize agar and the 6 quart doesn’t have the clearance. The 500ml media bottle is 7” with the cap fully tightened and a bit taller 7.25”? when the cap is loosened to allow expansion.

Hi David. It’s hard to measure exactly how much clearance the 8 quart lid has but I just measured it to be very close to 2 inches. So the inner pot is 6.8 inches high plus about 2 inches sounds like it should be plenty of room. Hope that helps.

How can you have length, width and height on a round pot?? there is height and diameter. So what are you refering to by length and width. I suppose width could be diameter but length?

I want to purchase a cart to store my 8-qt IP. The description says each shelf hold 20 lbs. Is this enough support to hold the IP and the weight of the food to cook with the IP on the cart?
