The Impossible burger is a remarkable plant-based patty that mimics the taste and texture of real beef so well that it’s become a hit with not just vegetarians and vegans but also meat-eaters.

An air fryer Impossible burger has a seared exterior while the inside stays juicy. The air flow inside the air fryer gives the burgers a grill-like char and caramelization without using a grill.
You can top the meatless burger with all your favorite toppings, such as sliced cheese or vegan cheese, lettuce, tomato, and ketchup.

💡 Tips for Making Air Fryer Impossible Burgers
- Preheat the air fryer to make sure the burgers start cooking right away.
- Don’t thaw the vegan burger patties.
- Place the Impossible burgers in the basket in a single layer; don’t overcrowd. The patties need room for the hot air to circulate around them for even crisping.
- Flip halfway through the cooking time for even cooking.
- Check the patty’s internal temperature with a digital meat thermometer to ensure it’s cooked through. According to the Impossible website, the burgers should be at 160° F (71° C).
- For extra browning, spray a little oil over the patty before cooking.
- Serve burgers in buns with toppings like lettuce, tomato, bacon, ketchup, or your favorite sauce, with a side of sweet potato fries, frozen steak fries, or french fries.
- Your air fryer’s times may vary due to wattage and capacity.
❓FAQS
Once the burgers are cooked, turn off the air fryer and place a slice of cheese (or vegan cheese slices) over the cooked burger patties. Close the air fryer and let the cheese melt in the residual heat.
The Impossible burgers come pre-seasoned, so you don’t need to season them. However, you can always add some salt and pepper to taste or try my roasting seasoning. Sprinkle a pinch before flipping the burger.
